Sophie Rice-Boshi

Provisional Psychologist

About Me

Sophie is a Provisional Psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Professional Psychology.

Sophie has experience working with a wide variety of clients, including adolescents and adults in community and forensic settings, treating chronic and acute mental health concerns. She brings an authentic, warm, and person-focused approach to therapy, primarily using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to assist clients in proactively managing their mental health challenges.

Sophie also enjoys using principles and tools of Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to tailor therapy to the individual client’s needs.

In addition to her clinical experience, Sophie has a research background in the neuroscience of early life trauma and its links with later mental and physical illness.

She has a strong interest in how early life experiences shape individual thinking and behaviour, and intersectionality between culture and mental health. She is interested in supporting and providing a safe space for individuals in the LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and disabled communities.

Sophie also has a history of teaching at the university level, teaching undergraduate psychology and research methods at Macquarie University and the Australian National University.
